The Australian fur seal is very close related to the South African fur seal. These two species of seals form a subfamily of the eared seals. The full-grown Australian fur seals have a greyish brown colour and have coarse crest. At birth these seals are totally black. Australian fur aeals fish for their food in very deep water. They mainly eat inkfish. These excellent divers can dive to 500 meters below the surface.
